Valley Mountain Pass
The “Valley Mountain Trail” to Barkerville is accessible from “One Mile Road” (just over the bridge and across the new raised section of road, bear right) which gives access to the Forest Rose Campground and Barkerville Historic Park and the trails beyond.
Barkerville Connector Trail
The “Barkerville Mountain Connector” is accessible from the intersection of Ski Hill Road and Lowhee Drive which provides a direct ATV connection between Wells and the “One Mile Road” trail head.
Sugar Creek Loop
A 44-kilometer circular route with average difficulty. Enjoy a mix of well-maintained trails and old logging roads. Perfect for a day trip and experiencing the local scenery.
The “Sugar Creek Loop” is accessible from the west end of Hardscrabble Road or the north end of “One Mile Road”. Note this trail gives access to additional routes connecting through to the Prince George area.
Two Sisters Fire Lookout
A 96-kilometer route primarily on forest service roads. This trail climbs to a fire lookout offering breathtaking views. Be prepared for a longer ride with rewarding panoramic vistas. Expect many water bars on your way up the trail.
Yanks Peak
A 94-kilometer circular route on mixed trails, known for its rocky terrain. This challenging trail rewards riders with a stunning summit view. Recommended for experienced ATV riders. Expect snow on the mountain still in early July and by late September.
Ghost Lake Falls
A 177-kilometer route along forest service roads. This scenic trail includes a stop at a beautiful waterfall and recreation site on Ghost Lake. Pack a lunch and enjoy the natural beauty.
Cariboo River
A 198-kilometer circular route that follows the Cariboo River. This trail passes by Ghost Lake, offering diverse scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities. Plan for a full-day adventure.
Cornish Mountain
For a shorter, easier ride with rewarding views, try Cornish Mountain. It provides beautiful mountain views and overlooks the District of Wells. You can access this trail via the Sugar Creek Loop.
McKenna Creek Loop
This 73 km ride is mostly Forest Service Roads and old logging roads, and will provide views of lakes on the Bowron Lakes Chain paddling circuit, from the McKenna Lookout Point.
A stop at the Whiskey Flats Rec. Site and the Beggs Gulch, are both interesting historical sites.
Wells to Prince George
A longer, one-way route of approximately 160 kilometers, often done with an overnight stay in Wells. This trail is part of an annual Prince George ATV Club event, offering a unique and memorable experience.
Important riding tips
Be aware that some trails can be challenging, with rocky roads on routes like Yanks Peak. You may also encounter water bars, especially on Two Sisters Mountain and Yanks Peak. Always ride responsibly and respect the environment. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views and local entertainment that Wells and the Barkerville Historical Town has to offer!
